This guide will help you set up your profile and start your journey as a TutorTree tutor. Follow these simple steps to maximize your impact and start transforming the way students learn.

Download the App

First things first, download the TutorTree app available on the App Store for iOS, iPad, and MacOS. If you're on another platform our development team is hard at work on our Web platform, join our waitlist to be notified as soon as it's ready .

Our app is your hub to managing your tutoring, allowing you to manage sessions, interact with students, and receive notifications on the go.

Create your profile

Your profile is the window through which potential students and their parents get to know you. Here’s how to make it shine:
  • Upload a Professional Photo
    A friendly and professional profile photo helps make a positive first impression.
  • Write a Compelling Bio
    Describe your teaching philosophy, your academic background, and what makes your tutoring style unique.
  • How to Get There
    On your Account page, tap on your profile card at the top to edit. Make sure to save when you're done!

Selecting your courses

Tutortree works by showing students tutors for their exact course. Sign up for courses you've aced before or feel confident in tutoring. If you don't see a course for your school email our team with the following we'll get it added for you:

Setting your availability

Students book sessions by choosing one of your available time slots. Make sure to keep this up to date, flexibility is key to balancing tutoring with your personal schedule. If you can't make it to a session, communicate with the student about a time to reschedule to then update the session in the app.
  • Choose your Open Time Slots
    Time slots are available in 30 minute blocks. Choose a schedule that works for you and be sure to update it if anything changes long term.
  • Rescheduling
    College isn't static, we understand that things change. If you get booked for a time you're not available for, you can reschedule or cancel through the app. Canceling sessions not recommended and may have negative impacts on your metrics.

Set your rates

Tutors on Tutortree set their own rates for individual or group sessions. Competitive pricing can attract more students, but make sure it reflects your qualifications and teaching experience.

You keep 80% of your earnings, so be sure to adjust your rate with this in mind.

Withdrawing your funds

Your earnings are available as soon as a student books a session with you. We've partnered with Stripe to enable instant withdrawals directly to your bank or eligible debit/credit cards.

Connect to Stripe

Stripe is trusted by 300,000+ companies worldwide for fast, secure payments. We've partnered with them to give tutors the best experience in withdrawing their funds. You'll need to connect your account when you log in to Tutortree for the first time.

Submitting withdrawals

Once your Stripe account is connected, tap on your balance on the account page to open the withdrawal screen. Enter an amount, and select instant or standard withdrawals.

Standard withdrawals are free and usually take 1-3 business days. There is a 1.5% fee associated with instant withdrawals.

Managing your sessions

Tutortree makes it easy to manage all your sessions. You can view all your upcoming and pending sessions in the calendar tab.

Pending Sessions

When a student books a session, it'll be marked as pending until you confirm it. Once confirmed the student will be notified and your balance will be updated

Tap a session to manage confirming, rescheduling or cancellations.

Confirming

Confirming a session notifies the student and updates your balance. You can withdraw these funds at anytime, see "Withdrawing your funds" for more information

Confirming

If you can't make it, you can reschedule your sessions from the app. It's a good idea to communicate this to the student beforehand

Canceling

If you can't find a time to reschedule, you can cancel the session by tapping "Can't make it?". The student will be refunded and you'll need to let them know the reason for the cancellation.

Cancellations are not recommended, they can hurt your metrics and after too many cancellations your account may be suspended.

Reviews & Feedback

Reviews are an integral part of Tutortree. Going above and beyond to help students achieve their goals is a great way to ensure they leave good feedback. Written reviews are public and will show on your profile.

Leaving Reviews

Reviews are a two way street - you can leave feedback for your students as well. If they've been great to work with be sure to write a review!

Promoting yourself

Spread the word about your tutoring services! Booking your first session can be challenging in the beginning. Here's some tips to kickstart your tutor journey:

Share your profile on the platforms you use. You can find a link to your Tutortree profile in the app.

🗣️ Word of Mouth

Encourage friends and family to refer you to potential students.

🎓 Engage with your Academic Circle

Talk to your professors, academic departments, and tutoring services on campus. Let them know you're an amazing tutor only a click away!
